COMENIUS AIMS To contribute to the development of quality education by: strengthening the European dimension in education promoting knowledge of EU languages promoting co-operation and mobility and removing obstacles encouraging educational innovation and exploring matters of common policy interest

Decide jointly the partnership type: Multilateral or Bilateral? Choose jointly each school’s role: Coordinating or Partner? Agree with your partner schools on the title, the expected results and the final products Choose which languages will be used HOW TO START A COMENIUS PARTNERSHIP

MULTILATERAL AND BILATERAL PARTNERSHIPS - Aim at enhancing the European dimension of education by promoting joint co-operation activities between schools in Europe - Give pupils and teachers in different countries an opportunity to work together on one or more topics of mutual interest

MULTILATERAL PARTNERSHIPS THREE INSTITUTIONS BILATERAL PARTNERSHIPS TWO INSTITUTIONS MULTILATERAL PARTNERSHIPS consist of (at least) THREE INSTITUTIONS located in one of the countries participating in the LLP BILATERAL PARTNERSHIPS consist of TWO INSTITUTIONS located in one of the countries participating in the LLP and includes reciprocal class exchanges of minimum 10 days involving pupils aged at least 12

Comenius partnerships focusing on pupil participation could deal with thematic areas such as arts, science, languages, environmental education cultural heritage etc… Comenius partnerships focusing on pedagogical methods and management issue (school oriented): opportunity to exchange experiences and information to develop new pedagogical methods and new organizational and pedagogical approaches Language oriented partnerships seek to promote linguistic diversity in Europe

Procedures to apply Each institution has to apply to the respective LLP - National Agency using the 2008 application form Closing date: January/February 2008 (to be confirmed) Project period: 2 school years

OBJECTIVE To improve the quality of school education by enabling staff to undertake training of up to six weeks in a country other than that in which the participant normally works Participants are encouraged to improve their practical teaching skills, knowledge and gain a broader understanding of school education in Europe
