UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED ON OCTOBER 24, 1945 IT REPLACED THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS UN HEADQUARTERS IS LOCATED IN MANHATTAN, NEW YORK THE SECURITY COUNCIL IS THE POWER UNIT OF THE UN; 5 PERMANENT MEMBERS(U.S., U.K., RUSSIA, FRANCE, CHINA), 10 NON-PERMANENT MEMBERS HOLDING A 2 YEAR TERM SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTIONS ARE TO HAVE THE EFFECT OF INTRNATIONAL LAW, 1 VETO BY A PERMANENT MEMBER CAN BLOCK A RESOLUTION

UNITED NATIONS ITS OBJECTIVES ARE TO PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION TO SECURE INTERNATIONAL PEACE AND SECURITY PROMOTE HUMAN RIGHTS FOSTER SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT PROVIDE HUMANITARIAN AID IN CASES OF FAMINE, NATURAL DISASTERS, AND ARMED CONFLICT

UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IT IS A DECLARATION ADOPTED BY THE UN AS PART OF ITS CHARTER ON DECEMBER 10, 1948 IT OUTLINES 30 RIGHTS THAT ARE TO BE GUARANTEED AND PROTECTED BY THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY THROUGH THE ACTIONS OF THE UN
