Compete in Science Fair!! Field Trips Cash Prizes Extra Credit Scholarship Opportunities

What is Science Fair?  Science Fair is a competition in which your design your own investigation and share your results  You start by competing at the district level and have an opportunity to move on to the regional and state level

How do I get started?  The first step is to submit three ideas to your science teacher. We will be handing out forms in class for you to present your ideas with.  Remember your ideas need to by testable, and you should be able to run multiple trials with the experiment.  No product tests please (Ex: Which type of battery lasts the longest)

I would like to compete, but I don’t know what to do?  Start with your interests  These are the categories you can compete in:  Animal ScienceBehavioral and Social Science  Biochemistry Cellular and Molecular Biology  ChemistryComputer Science  Earth ScienceEngineering: Materials/Bioengineering  Engineering: Electrical/MechanicalEnergy and Transportation  Environmental SciencesEnvironmental Management  Mathematical ScienceMedicine and Health  MicrobiologyPhysics and Astronomy  Plant Science  Needing more inspiration? Visit the Exxon Mobile Website to see past project ideas. We can’t repeat their projects, but it might give you an idea.

Where will I work on the project?  You can ask your science teacher or Mrs. Lynch questions at any time.  Most of the actual experiment will be completed at home, so you can run and check trials when needed.

What are the project requirements?  Research Plan  Research Paper (Yes a paper, but it isn’t that bad)  Project Experiment  Science Fair Board Display with results and the scientific method

Don’t be Scared to Compete!!  We are here to help you with ideas, paperwork and getting started on the research paper.  It is only ONE research paper! Remember there are field trips involved for participants that meet project requirements!!  We will help you fill out the appropriate paperwork for your project also.
