SKI-PADS

These evacuation aids were originally developed for hospitals and nursing homes in the early 1980’s. They have been used in both NHS & private medical facilities, across the UK & the Republic of Ireland. They can be used for the evacuation of disabled people from almost any situation, they are easy to use and require little, if any, training. A simple demonstration is probably all that is needed. SKI-PADS

FREE STANDING OR WALL MOUNTABLE CAN BE USED IN MANY DISABLED RESCUE SCENARIOS, BUT PARTICULARLY USEFUL WHEN FIRE ESCAPES OR STAIRCASES ARE TOO NARROW A SIMPLE AID TO EVACUATION MUCH LOWER THAN AN EVACUATION CHAIR THEREFORE BOTH PASSENGER AND RESCUER CAN KEEP UNDER SMOKE. SKI-PADS

CAN YOU GET THE DISABLED OUT? The ‘SKI-PAD’ evolved from the traditional ‘SKI’ Sheet, which is permanently attached to the underside of the mattress, to allow safe evacuation of non-ambulant patients. It was originally intended for situations where staircases or fire escape routes were too narrow for full mattress evacuation, presenting the problem of how to get non-ambulant patients down perhaps several flights of stairs. If the Ski Pad can be used for hospital patients, then it can also be used for the evacuation of wheelchair users and other mobility impaired people.

IN AN EMERGENCY the ‘SKI-PAD’ is quickly and easily removed from its storage bag. READY FOR IMMEDIATE USE Lay the ‘SKI-PAD’ out on the floor Simply assist the person to lay on the ‘SKI-PAD’. The belts are ‘clunk clicked’ into place to secure the passenger and you are ready to go. SIMPLY DRAG THE PASSENGER TO SAFETY.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE ‘SKI-PAD’ VINYL COATED BASE is a slippery yet tough material that allows it to be moved easily over virtually any surface – indoors or outdoors. FOAM PAD gives protection from bumps and bruises (2” thick). WIPE CLEAN STORAGE BAG can be wall mounted at the head of staircases ready for IMMEDIATE USE in an emergency.

NARROW WIDTH & FLEXIBILITY allows the passenger to be slid through standard doorways, along twisting corridors and down narrow winding fire escapes – without the risk of blocking the escape route or need for heavy lifting. DIMENSIONS Packed - 71cm x 71cm x 15cm Open - 198cm x 69cm x 5cm (Approximate measurements). Tested safely to 160 kg marked
