2 Imagine yourself as client or designer
What decisions are we making, or not making, that affect health and safety during: construction operation maintenance eventual demolition? Taking a School as an example … Construction – time frame allowed enough? Operation – can deliveries take place while children in school? Maintenance – can we access the kitchen ductwork easily? Eventual demolition – have we left any hidden hazards?

5 Perimeter safety Boundaries – should school look open or like a prison? Effect on mental health. Security - getting in and out, is the school uniform enough to allow in children? Pupil safety – gates, open or closed during normal operation of the school? Guard house – window, toilet, and kettle/pantry? Guard welfare.
