6 What we must know: General Fire Safety
Do not store items on shelf up to ceiling – 500 mm from sprinkler or detector.

7 What we must know: General Fire Safety
Do not place items in front of medical gas control valve, fire alarm panel, break glass call point, fire extinguisher and fire hose reel.

8 What we must know: General Fire Safety
Do not place items along the corridor – corridor should have a clearance space of 2 meters width.

9 No Smoking in Hospital No Smoking Policy
Everyone is not allow to smoke within or 5 meters away from the hospital compound including; Staff are not allow to smoke while they are in their uniforms

11 On Discovery of Fire Rescue anyone in the immediate danger of the fire Activate CODE RED by breaking glass at the manual call point. (Calling Code Red 555 or – incident where a secondary fire were detected or assistance required during fire evacuation) Corridors and fire exits must not be blocked. Remove all items immediately to facilitate evacuation

Fire warden to proceed to the fire alarm panel to check the location of the activation. Sub-panel are usually found inside the lift lobby

15 Medical Gas Who shall shut off the medical gas valve?
If you discover a fire in a room, the medical gas valve have to be shut off Fire warden must authorise shut off Shutting of medical gas valve in General Ward by Fire warden or POD Technician only Shutting of medical gas valve in Operation Theatre by AU Nurse only

16 Close doors and fire shutters to prevent spread of fire

EVERYONE must be familiar with detection system Fire Detection system are Heat and Smoke detectors This devices detect the existence of fire in every areas in the hospital. Heat detector detect heat sudden increase in temperature. Smoke detector detects the presents of smoke in the detector chamber. Heat detector 57oC Smoke detector Heat detector 57oC

How to operate the Hose reel? Turn On the valve Pull out the hose to the fire Turn on the nozzle The maximum length of the hose is 30 meters Do not use on Electrical or Petrol chemical / Oil based fire Turn on the Valve Pull out the Hose Turn on the Nozzle
