 Please sign in and out every time you enter or leave the building  Wear an identification badge while on campus  If you are going to be absent, please call the office and ask that the message gets passed on to the teacher

 Be prepared to encounter emergency situations  Schools practice fire, earthquake, and lock- down drills regularly  Always follow the lead of the teacher  Help students stay calm and quiet  Wait for further instructions

 Get help on the way!  Send a student if needed  Follow the lead of staff  Model calmness to students  Avoid contact with bodily fluids  Do not move a child with a suspected back or neck injury Only perform first aid if you are appropriately trained and a staff member is not available

 Children benefit from healthy relationships with adult role models  Relationships must be kept appropriate at all times  Volunteer-student relationships may not be extended outside of the school setting You can be a positive influence in the life of a student!

 Handshakes, High- Fives, and Side Hugs are great ways to show students you care!  The child’s comfort level should be your guide  Redirect overly affectionate children to a different gesture  Report inappropriate touching immediately

 Conversations with staff and students should demonstrate respect for others  Everyone should be treated the same regardless of differences  At school, volunteers may not encourage or promote religious beliefs to students, including invitations to their place of worship

 Any personal information you learn about a student or family at school should be kept confidential  Report any concerns of abuse, neglect, sexual harassment, and illegal or dangerous activities  School staff members are mandatory reporters of suspected abuse and will follow up on this information

 Redirect misbehaving students back to the task at hand  Follow classroom procedures  Be firm, fair, and friendly  Physical punishment or verbal abuse is never permitted Refer behavior challenges to a staff member

 Follow the teacher’s lead and keep children headed in the right direction  Learn names and use them often  Set a relaxed, friendly climate for learning  Allow students to be themselves  Be a positive role model  Keep your commitments  Communicate often
