Kidsmatter Student Social Workers on Placement in Schools Ilektra Zabanias

Linking Kids Matter Activities with Student Learning Outcomes 1. Positive school community 2. Social & emotional learning for students 4. Helping children with mental health difficulties 3. Working with parents and carers 5. Applying Knowledge to Practice Meet with 2 individual children a week and build and maintain a relationship with them. I will work with clients using both the strength based and empowerment practice. 4. Knowledge for Practice Familiarise oneself with school policies and protocols DECD knowledge and practices Discuss social work theoretical perspectives Kids Matter Core Components 1. Values and Ethics Familiarise self with AASW code of ethics, reflect in supervision and learning log on ability to apply code of ethics to practice in the school setting 3. Culturally Responsive and Inclusive Practice Identify programs and services available to Aboriginal students and their families to assist with children’s leaning and wellbeing Develop a resource/undertake a project 2. Professionalism Attend and participate in relevant meetings i.e. Kids Matter action team, staff meetings, parent meetings etc. Behave professionally as expected by the school and the social work profession 6. Communication and Interpersonal Skills Building of positive relationships with students, staff and parents Support lunchtime activities and play based learning program, utilising Play is the Way concepts (Strength based practice) to reinforce positive social skills. Conduct weekly mentoring with individual students and group work, ie ‘what’s the buzz?’, art/craft, cooking. 7.
