Let me tell you a story… I want to start by telling you a short story, and as I tell it, I want you to imagine that this story is about you. It’s not a happy story, but it’s a real one. It’s happened to people in the past, and it still happens today. Natural DisasterCivil War

Next

Natural Disaster

As I said before, this isn’t a happy story. - So how would you feel if this had really happened to you? What if instead, it had happened to someone else? -How would you feel if you saw this happen? -What would you want to do? Our Story

These people make helping others their job. Now these aren’t easy jobs. So what makes people want to help others? Who can help: At home? At school? If there is a problem for a whole town, like in the story? Helping Others

But usually, it’s somewhere else in the world. This might be because there are not enough people trained to help, if there has been a natural disaster, like an Earthquake or flood. Or it can be because whole regions or countries need to be helped or protected, because of conflict. Helping Others Around the World Q: Can you think of what jobs these people have, and who they work for? Q: Can anyone tell me what our Army, Navy and Air Force do?

Being Brave Q: Now, what’s the bravest or best thing you’ve ever done? How did this make you feel? What did other people do to show their appreciation?
