France joined in EU in March 1957 & adopted the euro as its currency in January 1999

Culture& Business Practices : Cultural Behavior Punctuality is treated very casually in France. France is a highly stratified society, with strong definition and competition between classes. The French handshake is brief, and is accompanied by a short span of eye contact. Always shake hands when meeting someone, as well as when leaving. The French have a great respect for privacy because they are privacy-sensitive people.

Relationships & Communication   Appointments are necessary and should be made at least 2 weeks in advance.  Do not try to schedule meetings during July or August. (common vacation period) Business Meetings Etiquette   Emphasizing courtesy and a degree of formality.  The French appear extremely direct because they are not afraid of asking probing questions.
