FUTURE PLANS …and my future job

JOBS People can have different jobs, different professions. To do some profession people need different skills and qualities. Every person is looking for something different when choosing a job such as money, satisfaction, helping people etc. To do some jobs you also need to have the right education.

TASK 1 COMPETITION Read the following riddles. Try to guess what job or profession it is. Those who will have the highest number of points will be the winners!!!

RIDDLE 1 They help pupils, students or adults to learn new things. They are usually not very favourite. They have long holiday every year. They have to go to school for the whole life.

1 TEACHERS

RIDDLE 2 They cure people. They prescribe them some medicines, such as pills. People are usually afraid of them. But they have to visit them when they are ill or when they hurt themselves.

2 DOCTORS

RIDDLE 3 They work in a law court. They help people when they have some problems with laws. They defend people. Or they prosecute* them. They usually earn a lot of money. *prosecute = trestně stíhat

3 LAWYERS

RIDDLE 4 They work in an office. They help their boss to make arrangements. They type letters. They organize meetings. They should have communication skills. They are usually women.

4 SECRETARIES

RIDDLE 5 They work in a hospital. They look after patients. They give people pills and medicines. They can give them injections too. They have white or blue clothes. They are mostly women.

5 NURSES

RIDDLE 6 They are creative. They usually have good fantasy. They are able to describe what they can see around them or some stories they have in mind. They usually work at home. The money they earn depends on how many of the products they make are sold.

6 WRITERS

RIDDLE 7 They are usually popular. They have very strong and specific voice. They should have a good ear. They must hear the melody of the music. Their popularity depends on the style of their music and number of fans.

7 SINGERS

RIDDLE 8 They can use vehicles. They can help people to move from one place to another quiet quickly. They need to have a special license. They need to have a good sight. They should be calm and they should work according to some rules.

8 DRIVERS

RIDDLE 9 They work in shops. They look after their customers. They sell goods. They should be good at counting. They should be nice to other people.

9 SHOP-ASSISTANTS

RIDDLE 10 They work in an office. They are good at Maths and counting. They look after finances in some organization. They prepare payments (salaries) for employees.

10 ACCOUNTANT

RIDDLE 11 They work in a restaurant. They serve food and drinks to their customers. They should be polite and nice to the people. It can be men as well as women.

11 WAITERS OR WAITRESSES

RIDDLE 12 They work in difficult conditions. They help people who are in danger. They use water to stop the danger. They should be strong and brave. They also help people when they have a car accident.

12 FIREMEN

RIDDLE 13 They work in a kitchen. They prepare and cook food. They can bake, fry, boil, peel, cut etc. They should be quick but accurate. They have another cooks there to help them.

13 CHEFS

RIDDLE 14 They work in a plane. They should be dressed nicely. Their job is to look after passengers and about their comfort. They serve them food and drinks. They sell them some goods. And they show give them safety instructions.

14 FLIGHT ATTENDANT

RIDDLE 15 They work in an office or somewhere outside. They use a car or they walk. They have a gun and a special uniform. They check drivers or pedestrians, or they investigate different crimes. They can give fines* to people. * fines = pokuty

Would you like to earn a lot of money or do you want to help people or …? Would you like to be an employer or an employee? Would you like to work in the Czech Republic or abroad? Do you want to marry someone? How many children would you like to have? Do you want to live in a flat or in a house? What would you like to have in your house? Would you like to visit any foreign country? What else would you like to have in your future?
