LET’S REVIEW SLOPE- INTERCEPT FORM We can use a linear equation or graph to determine several things: What is the slope? What is the y-intercept? EXAMPLE: 2y = 6x + 4 If x = 2, then y = ?????? If y = 2, then x = ?????? Is (3,-1) a solution? Is (-3, -7) a solution?

TIME TO PLAY! Each person needs a pencil, paper, calculator.

MATH MANIA Each team member will receive a recording sheet for their answers. You have a stack of cards. Your team will select a card and find the slope for the given problem. All members of the team are working the problem at the same time. After completing the problem, one person from the team will bring the answer to the teacher to be checked. The teacher can reply yes/no. If you hear no then go back to your team and correct the problems. You have 5 chances to get the correct answer. The team to finish first will receive 25 points. The team with the highest score will receive 50 points. All work will be collected at the end of class.

THINGS TO REMEMBER Don’t forget to answer the problem after solving for the leg/hypotenuse. For example, What is the total distance Janie traveled? ADD ALL THE SIDES If asked to find the distance between two points on a graph, then draw a right triangle to find the hypotenuse. Perimeter means to ADD ALL THE SIDES. If a picture is not given then sketch a picture and label the given information.

TIME TO PLAY! Each person needs a pencil, paper, calculator.

BOARD GAME You will be divided into groups of 3. (The teacher will do this at the beginning of class.) You are not playing with your teammates but against other teammates. Each person needs to place a game piece on the board to represent him/her on the board. One person will draw a card and solve the problem. The other two players will also solve the problem as a way of checking the person. After completing the problem, the player will check his/her with the two opposing team members. If the player is correct then he/she will roll and move the game piece. The first person to go around the board twice will win. All players will turn in their work at the end of class.

THINGS TO REMEMBER Eight angles are formed. Typically, four angles are acute and four angles are obtuse. In this case, you can add one acute angle and one obtuse angle together and get a total of 180 degrees. When can all eight angles be the same measure? Each one has to be a right angle. Interior means inside. Exterior means outside. Corresponding means same relative location. Vertical means they are opposite and share a vertex.

TIME TO PLAY! Each person needs a pencil and paper.

DANCE, DANCE, TRANSVERSAL There are nine teams total. One of your team members is “dancing” against one team member from all the other teams. While your team member is playing the other two team members are watching an opposing team’s “dance moves” through the first song. Every time the “dancer” gets it wrong in the song then the two opposing teams make a tick mark on their paper. After song 1, a new “dancer” is up and the other two team members are watching a new opposing team’s “dance moves”. This continues through 3 songs. Each person should “dance” for one song while the other two members of the team are scoring an opposing team on mistakes. When it’s finished the team with the least amount of mistakes will receive an additional 25 points. If there is a tie and we have class time then we can have a “dance off” (repeating the first song again).
