More ipad FUN!!! Across the Curriculum…

INVENTORS! LANGUAGE ARTS & SOCIAL STUDIES-* To go along with our Texas Treasures story about African American Inventors, and to also be submitted as a graphic design for the Multimedia Festival, the students went to a website about inventions on my Moodle page and used the info to create pic collages of the inventors.

Animal Life Cycles LANGUAGE ARTS & SCIENCE- * Students scanned the QR codes from a Powerpoint for a non-fiction reading assignment. They read about different animal lifecycles from the websites and decided which one they wanted to write about. Students saved the pictures on the camera roll to create pic collages in groups.

Butterfly Life Cycle

Mealworm Life Cycle

Frog Life Cycle

Animal Research Project LANGUAGE ARTS & SCIENCE- * Students picked an animal to research and used the San Diego Zoo Kids app to find facts about their animal to complete an information fact sheet. After writing their research papers and typing them in the computer lab, the students were able to create a popplet web of facts on their animals and then create a pic collage as well.

Animal Adaptations LANGUAGE ARTS & SCIENCE-* Students Used the QR Codes on the PowerPoint to scan an animal adaptation to read about. Then they wrote about the adaptations. There was also another QR code to scan to work in groups and take a quiz together on the ipad about what they learned.

Now It’s Your Turn To Be A SCIENCE REPORTER!!! 1)Choose an Animal 2)Investigate the Facts 3)Observe & Record 4)Report Your Findings

Animal Behavior Adaptation QUIZ !

Adaptation Creations Extension *After the students finished their work, they used the Switch Zoo app to create their own animals with different body parts for adaptations and wrote about how each body part would help that animal survive.

Wax Museum Project Students picked a famous person in history for our end of year Social Studies project. This also ties in to the Language Arts TEKS about Researching & Writing Reports.

Chatter Pix

Pic Collages

“Gabbin With the Gonzalez Geckos” (ipad Projects Tab) I tried to upload as much as I could ahead of time to my Moodle page. (especially pictures I wanted them to use in pic collages so they would not have to surf the web on their own.
