2 1. Introduction What kind of animal is a frog?
•Frogs are a small animal and are called amphibians. This means that they live part of their life in the water and part on land. How can frogs live in and out of the water? Frogs are cold-blooded animals. Their body temperature is the same as their surrounding temperature. I wonder how a frog grows and what new vocabulary words we can learn today!

Task ▪ Work in a group of three friends to collect information online about the life cycle of a frog: 1) review frog websites 2) analyze life cycle diagrams 3) watch video clips 4) listen to Frog on a Log on tape & read along ▪ Sequence the life cycle of a frog and list the characteristics of each stage in Kidspiration. ▪ Make props to represent each stage of the life cycle to the class.

4 3. Process 1) Look at: -website about frogs , another website
-pictures of frog eggs -pictures of tadpoles -pictures of frogs 2) Analyze diagrams of the life cycle, diagram 2 3) Watch a video about the life cycle.

Process Continued… 4) Obtain the Frog on a Log book and cassette tape from your teacher and read along with your group. 5) Open Kidspiration and sequence the life cycle of a frog. 6) Decide which group members will become each stage of the life cycle & make props for each. Act it out for the class! -Egg Tadpole -Tadpole  Froglet -Froglet  Adult Frog

6 4. Evaluation 1) You will receive a grade based on:
a) How you worked with your group to collect information. *Look at the rubric! b) If you were able to use the information you learned to sequence the life cycle of a frog and act out each stage.

a) Group Work Grade Score 2 1 Sharing Computer Time Took turns on the computer with my group and everyone had the same time to search. Took turns part of the time with some arguing over who would search the Internet next. Not able to take turns without the help of the teacher. Group Discussion (Vocabulary: Indicator 3) Described 3 or more stages of the life cycle in order to complete the Kidspiration assignment. Described 2 stages of the life cycle and helped a little to complete the Kidspiration assignment. Not able to describe any of the stages and could not help with the assignment.

Does not explain the stage to the class.

9 5. Conclusion Yippy! Now you know how a frog grows! Try and find frogs outside with your family. Remember to look up in trees and down into the water! Find some other books at the library about frogs!
