Ponder no more, as this session will allow you to examine your grade level TEKS, as well as through the lenses of K-2 educators with a focus on vertical alignment. You will gain a fresh perspective on how to plan your math instruction when you understand the end of year standards. Lower Right Corner = Learning Style (Auditory, Visual, Kinesthetic) We will use these name tents to gauge audience background knowledge (years of experience) and have fun/build community (name recognition/title of book) Join our Google Classroom by typing in class code: unn1rrg

6 Ice Breaker Find a penny on your table and share something that happened in your life during that year. If you have a penny from before you were born, share a historical event from that year or choose another penny! Decide as a table which person will share!

11 Unpacking the Standard
What students need to know (nouns) What students are to be able to do (verbs/unpacked ) Examples of Mastery Level of Bloom’s 2.9b describe main characters in works of fiction, including their traits, motivations, and feelings Modeled by presenters: Complete the process of unpacking a standard (anchor chart so that everyone can see). Carefully read the standard. What students need to know (circle nouns) What students are to be able to do (underline verbs) Identify Bloom’s Level Create an anchor chart or example of mastery Anchor chart will have standard, details and normal lingo, what students need to know, what students will be able to do, examples of mastery, the level of Bloom’s and then examples of how it might look when assessed/taught.

13 Your Turn! Unpacking the Standard in Google Classroom
What students need to know (nouns) What students are to be able to do (verbs/unpacked ) Examples of Mastery Level of Bloom’s K-5 group will work in grade level bands (K, 1, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th) to complete the anchor charts. As a group, decide which TEK strand/s we want to focus on. Complete the process of unpacking a standard in Google Classroom Carefully read the standard. What students need to know (identify nouns) What students are to be able to do (identify verbs) Identify Bloom’s Level Create an anchor chart or example of mastery ---take a photo and post into Examples of Mastery column Groups will share out their work. (Make vertical alignment comparisons---tie back to document) Anchor chart will have standard, details and normal lingo, what students need to know, what students will be able to do, examples of mastery, the level of Bloom’s and then examples of how it might look when assessed/taught. When poster is finished, participants will get a break. We will be sharing our examples from the google classroom.
