 American director/costume designer/mask & puppetry maker.  She is widely known for directing the stage musical, The Lion King.  Japanese and Indonesian influences in her work WHO IS SHE?

 Born on December 15, 1952, in Newton, Massachusetts.  Her father, Melvin Lester Taymor  Her mother, Elizabeth Bernstein  Parents were supportive and trusting  “I always believed Julie wasn’t going to do anything destructive to herself.”  Found an interest in international folklore and mythology, and also developed a passion for theatre.  involved in a theatre in Boston WHERE DID SHE COME FROM?

 Traveled to Sri Lanka and India at 15  Moved to Paris at 16  Mime school of Jacques Lecoq  Studied at Oberlin College from 1969 to 1974  She studied theatre and mythology  Graduated with a degree in folklore and mythology EDUCATION
