© 2015 albert-learning.com Time management VOCABULARY TasksA piece of work to be done or undertaken. IndecisionThe inability to make a decision quickly. A to-do listA list of errands and other tasks – often written on a piece of paper as a memory aid – that one needs or intends to accomplish. DeadlineThe latest time or date by which something should be completed.

© 2015 albert-learning.com Time management WHEN SPEAKING ABOUT TIME MANAGEMENT, THESE TWO QUESTIONS ARE ALWAYS TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION WHAT IS TIME MANAGEMENT? Time management is the efficient organization and scheduling of tasks in a manner that allows for the most productive results. Time management is used to determine in what order things will be done. WHY IS TIME MANAGEMENT IMPORTANT? Time management is important because you need to use your time wisely and efficiently. You need to be able to get things done in the time frame you have set.

© 2015 albert-learning.com Time management SOME COMMON TIME WASTERS 1. Disorganization (both mind and matter) 2. Not Setting Personal Goals 3. Indecision: Any decision is better than no decision 4. Not being aware of your natural bio rhythms and effective work times 5. Constant interruptions ( , television, phone, visitors) 6. Perfectionism: Leads to “paralysis by analysis” aka “nothingness” 7. Procrastination:(to put off or defer (an action) until a later time; delay) 8. Allowing any type of drama to continually play out in your life (drains time and energy)

© 2015 albert-learning.com Time management TECHNIQUES FOR BETTER TIME MANAGEMENT. 1=The Pareto Principle, or '80-20 Rule ‘Identify the 20% that is vital (and which probably enables at least 80% of productivity, performance, effectiveness, etc). This is your starting point. Retain this 20%, and nothing else, unless it serves a crucial purpose. 2=weekly activity schedule 3=urgent and important time management matrix

© 2015 albert-learning.com Time management TIME MANAGEMENT FOR STUDENTS 1=Make a to-do list every day: Put the most important tasks at the top 2=Keep your work with you: That way, if you find yourself with extra time—while on the train or bus or waiting for an appointment—you can get something done. 3=Don't be afraid to say no: It's OK to say no if your friend asks you to go to a movie one night but you have a test the next morning.

© 2015 albert-learning.com Time management 4=Find your productive time: Are you a morning person or a night person? You'll be more efficient if you work when you're at your best. 5=Create a dedicated study time: Set up a time devoted only to studying or homework. 6=Don't get sidetracked: If you find yourself wasting time on unimportant things, stop, check your to-do list and get back to what's at the top. 7=Get a good night's sleep: Your brain needs rest to perform at its peak.

Don't bite off more than you can chew: If you take on a new project, you may have to cut back on other activities in order to finish it on time. 2. Post your deadlines where you will see them: This will remind you to use your time wisely. 3. Break big projects into smaller projects, and assign a deadline for completing each
