Introduction  There is a knock at your door. You open the door and see a little girl sobbing.  She says “ detective please help me. I cannot find my dog anywhere. Could you please help me find him.”  She gives you a folder with clues of where the dog is. She mentions she found the folder in the dog’s doghouse.

Task  Your goal is to find the missing dog.  For every clue, draw the coordinate plane and shade or plot a point where you think the dog might be. Remember to label the x-axis and the y- axis. Also, label the four quadrants.

Task  After you analyze the clues and find the position of the missing dog, you will draw the coordinate system and label where the missing dog is located.  On a separate piece of paper, write what you have learned. Minimum of one paragraph. Write another paragraph explaining how the coordinate system is used in real life.

Process You will be working alone on this assignment. If you have trouble understanding some English words, you can click on the image to have it translated. –Copy and paste the material you would like to translate to the website.

Process If you have trouble reading the web pages, you can go to this link. This link will turn your text into spoken words. If you have trouble seeing a webpage because the font is too small, you can use the zoom button on the web browser.

Process First you will review the coordinate plane. Click on this graph to start After you read the information come back to the PowerPoint.

Process Next, you will review the four quadrants click on the graph to see the video – After you read the information come back to the PowerPoint. –Now you will master your quadrant knowledge. Click on the basketball to begin. After you finish the game come back to the PowerPoint.

Process Now, it is time for you to review how to plot points on a coordinate plane. click on the fly to begin After you finish the game come back to the PowerPoint. Click on this graph to master how to plot points and the quadrants.

Process Finally you will review reflections on the x and y axis. Only read the first two sections. Click on the graph to begin. After you finish reading come back to the PowerPoint.

Clues The dog found a piece of meat at (3,5). Then the dog fell asleep. (3,5) reflected on the x-axis. Now the dog is at the park. The point where he is now is a reflection on the y-axis of the previous point. The dog is on a point where the x- coordinate and y-coordinate are negative. What quadrant is he in?

Evaluation Graphs Paragraph Participatio n Must be neat and accurate. Must reflect what you have learned. Must have correct Spelling and proper grammar. You must remain on task and follow all instructions. 40% 20%

Conclusion  After completing this assignment you should be able to: Draw the coordinate system. Plot points on the coordinate system. Identify the four quadrant. Reflect points over the x and y-axis.
