Why are some words capitalized in our writing? We use capital letters for words that are special in some way. Special people, places, and things

Always use a capital letter to begin: the first word of a sentence: Today is the first day of school. the first word of a quotation: She said, “Yesterday was fun!” the names of days, months and holidays: The fourth Thursday in November is Thanksgiving. people’s first and last names Samantha Lopez
