Understanding the cross

Freedom through the cross! Bible words: REDEMPTION & RANSOM Eph 1:7 “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins” Mk 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Key Message...  Jesus died to set us free! Luke 4:18: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Key Message...  AND He did it! Rom 8:1-2: “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

Living in freedom Phil 3:12 “... I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me” Phil 3:16 “Only let us live up to what we have already attained”

Through the cross, we are free from...  SIN (Col 1:13-14, Rom 6:6-23)  It’s penalty & power  LAW (Rom 7:4-6, Gal 5:1-13)  DEATH, DECAY & DISEASE (Rom 8)  FEAR (Heb 2:15, Rom 8:15-17)  CURSES (Gal 3:13, 1 Pet 1:18)  Legal curse & human inheritance
