We are bought with a price. 1 Cor. 6:19-20. – Since man is “carnal, sold under sin” (Rom. 7:14), it was necessary that Divine Justice should receive a price that would deliver the souls of men. He gave Himself that we might be reconciled to God. – “While we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son.” Rom. 5:10. – He reconciled the world, “not reckoning unto them their trespasses.” 2 Cor. 5:18-19; cf. Heb. 8:8-12. – To be reconciled means that sins, which alienated us from God, have been forgiven. This was possible because He “made peace through the blood of His cross.” Col. 1:20. – We receive this reconciliation personally when we repent and are baptized into Jesus Christ.
