The Netherlands Culture Essential Question- I think you should know the traditions of The Netherlands Because it is very unique. Meeting and Greeting, very close friends will greet each other by air kissing near the cheek three times, starting with the left cheek. When invited to a Dutch home bring a box of chocolates, pot of plants, books, or some flowers to the host. Do not give pointed items like knives or scissors it is considered unlucky.

The Netherlands Culture Religion-31% of Netherlands is Roman Catholic. Most Catholics live in the southern province. 20% is protestant 55% is Muslim and 3% is other religion. Less than 10% of the population attend religious services on a daily basis. Language-The main Language is Dutch a Germanic language English German and French are mostly understood and sometimes spoken and another form of Dutch is Flemish.

The Netherlands Culture Music- techno, Hardstyle, Gabber, and trance are popular in the Netherlands. They have an Amsterdam Music festival that has electric music. Historical Events-After the fall of Charlemagne (he died 814) the lower part of Netherlands was divided into several smaller states. In 1555 Charles of the Habsburg Handed the Netherlands down to his son.

Geography Natural resources Natural Gas, petroleum, peat, limestone, salt. Rain is common throughout the year. It is the size o Connecticut and Massachusetts. During winter the average temperature is about 27 Degrees Fahrenheit, the average temperature for summer is about 72 degrees Fahrenheit. In the southeast part of the Netherlands there are hills but they are no bigger than 2,000 ft. Most of the Netherlands is below sea level so polders and dykes are there to prevent flooding and provide more land.
