NEW HIV INFECTIONS MAY BE DOWN BUT NOT GONE !

GETTING TO ZERO – HOW FAR OFF ARE WE ? ZERO new infections ? There are still 1233 per day = half a million per year ! ZERO AIDS related deaths ? There are still 487 per day = per year

Observations and trends over the last 11 years 1.HIV prevalence in women has increased to nearly 1 in 5 women having HIV 2.HIV prevalence in the youth is declining 3.The adult working population has the highest prevalence of HIV 4.Overall the percentage of the population with HIV 1 in 10 and increased over 11 years. 5.The number of people living with HIV is 5.26 million % more than New incidence new adult infection has declined from 1.26 of the population to.85% 7.New HIV infections per day down from 1600 to1233 per day - still half a million a year ! 8.AIDS deaths down from to per year - possibly anti - retro virals
