Region 7 Moving Into Action Through DSA Action Teams and Regional Forums Planning for Success

To continue generating performance improvement by developing stronger partnerships at the DSA and Regional levels. Intent

DSA 3 Estate Action Team Accountability For Performance On National Goals Local Donor Hospitals Local Transplant Center Hospitals Organ Procurement Organization Local DSA Action Teams Introduced at 2008 National Learning Congress

X The 4 Estates Donor Hospitals Transplant Centers OPO Tissue/Eye Partners

What Are the Goals? 75% Collaborative Conversion Rate 3.75 Organs Transplanted Per Donor (OTPD) 10% DCD (Donation after Cardiac Death)

Where Do We Start? 1.Identify Key Players 2.Issue “A Call to Action” 3.Outline measurable goals and clear timelines 4.Equip partners with “tools” to take ownership

Regional Strategy Establish partnerships with the DSA Action Teams to identify specific goals to focus on in  Regional Collaborative Events – Promoting the DSA process improvements into regional strategies

Did We Reach Our Goals? In our Region:  100% of 4 DSAs met the 75% goal  0% of 4 DSAs met the 3.75 goal  100% of 4 DSAs met the DCD goal

Region 7 Strategy The biggest opportunity for improvement in our Region is to INCREASE OTPD by:  Focus on ECD (Extended Criteria Donors)  23.5% of total donors  OTPD 2.10  ECD ≠ A “Bad” Donor

Region 7 Strategy What vehicles, forums, and partnerships can we use to establish powerful, exciting Regional accountability within and among the four estates?  Bi-Monthly Webinars  Collaborative sessions at Regional UNOS meetings  Attendance at annual NLC (National Learning Congress – Nov. 3-4, 2010 – Grapevine, TX)

What’s Next? What can we do by next Tuesday?  Gain Commitment to keep moving forward  Engage partners to commit to attending Regional Webinars - Next Webinar – November 19 th at 2:00pm  Commit to implementing strategies to improve outcomes  Continue to keep the 4 estates in action on the collaborative goals
