STUDENTS WILL REVIEW THE BUDGET EVALUATION CRITERIA AND UNDERSTAND THE FORMAT OF THE UPCOMING “BUDGET REVIEW SESSION.” STUDENTS WILL WORK WITH MENTORS TO REVISE AND PREPARE THEIR BUDGETS. Lesson Objectives 2

Breakout 1: Recap (2-3 minutes) 3 Directions: Share key takeaways and homework completed from the previous workshop. Students will also provide a status update of their Excel budget. Source:

Breakout 2: Budget Review Rollout (10 minutes) 4 Your Trainer will walk you through the setup and expectations of the “Budget Review Session.” For this next workshop, you must bring: A printed copy of each budget (minimum of two schools) Bring a copy of your award letter that corresponds to each college you created a budget for

Breakout 3: Budget Support Session (60-90 minutes) 5 Directions: The goal of today’s workshop is to finalize your budgets and get them in top condition for the “Budget Review Session.” Half of the time allocated for this breakout should be used to work on the budget for College 1 (the college you most want to attend). The second half of the breakout should be used to review the budget for College 2 (the college you can most easily afford. A time check will be provided halfway through and five minutes before the breakout ends so you can save their work. Source:

Reflect and Review (5 minutes) 6 Individually complete your “Student Reflection” handout. Then spend 2-3 minutes in your small group sharing what you learned or how you can apply today’s workshop content. Think about: What information resonated with you about today’s workshop? What information was new to you? What information was most helpful to learn about? Why? What knowledge can you pass on or share with family members? Be ready to share your key learnings with the class.
