 At least 17 years old (in most states)  Weigh at least 110 pounds  Valid photo I.D.  Re-eligible to donate every 8 weeks (56 days)

 Eat healthy  Include iron-rich foods in your diet the week before  Eat a light, nutritious meal within 4 hours before donating  Hydrate  Drink an extra 16 oz. of water and fluids before donating  Bring names of medications you are taking  Time commitment: about 1 hour

 Register with the nurse  Read information about the process  Complete the donor information form  Receive a mini-physical  Blood pressure  Pulse  Temperature  Blood sample

 Relax  Listen to music  Talk with other donors  Read

 Rest for 10 to 15 minutes  Enjoy a snack and drink  Drink plenty of fluids for the next hours (juice, soft drink, or fruit) to help your body begin to replace fluid loss  Avoid strenuous physical activity or heavy lifting for approximately 5 hours
