Academics/Behavior As a member of our Wolves athletic program, you are held to higher standards. Student-athletes will: ◦Not receive referrals or detentions. ◦Pass ALL classes. (Failing will cause the student to be ineligible to play-per UIL rules and regulations.) ◦Will work to do their best in all classes. ◦Act as ladies and gentlemen in class and act in a respectful manner to all teachers. ***Failing grades, low conduct marks, and referrals/d-halls will be addressed with extra conditioning and extra tutorials.

Dress Code ◦Practice Attire: You need to wear black shorts, gray wolf shirt, and athletic shoes(We have a limited amount of items for sale). NO jewelry can be worn. Please keep all items in your locker. ◦Meet Attire: You will need to wear your issued uniform (uniform top, shorts, and sweats) and athletic shoes. Spikes are optional. ◦Meet Day Attire: On meet days, athletes will be required to wear team shirts and jeans throughout the school day.

Sportsmanship & Attitude ◦Treat your teammates and coaches like you want them to treat you- with respect, dignity, and tolerance. ◦The team comes ahead of any person on the team. Do your best to help your teammates play better. ◦We expect you to display good sportsmanship at all times. ◦Bring a positive attitude to every practice and game, regardless of whether the team is winning or losing games. We expect players and parents to provide unconditional enthusiasm throughout the season. ◦Do your best every time you walk on the court. Your teammates and coaches are counting on you.

Absences When you play a team sport, you’re committed to attend every practice and game. When you’re absent you miss a chance to improve and help the team. If you miss a practice for any reason your participation in the meet may be limited.

Transportation GCISD will provide transportation to and from all athletic events. All players are expected to ride the bus to each meet. They can sign out with their head coach after they have completed their events. Students that do not sign out prior to leaving will have consequences.

Athlete/Parent Concerns The policies that have been provided are important for a successful program. However, the key to a successful program comes from communication between the coaches and parents, the coaches and athletes, and the athletes and parents. We encourage the parents to share in their child’s athletic experience and help make it a positive and rewarding one. We do ask that you follow the proper chain of command if a situation arises that would require the need to speak to a coach. Any concerns or questions by an athlete or parent should be brought to the attention of the proper coach in the following order: 1. Have the athlete talk to the coach. Then #2 2. Parent conference with the coach involved. THEN #3 3. Parent conference with the campus Athletic Coordinator. THEN #4 4. Parent conference with the Asst. Principal in charge of athletics. THEN #5 5. Parent conference with the Campus Principal. Those who choose to not follow the above procedure will be directed back by the administration to the level skipped. We know that conflict does arise and it often arises at a game/meet. Please refrain from confronting a coach at the conclusion of a meet. We ask that you observe the 24 hour rule. This will allow for all parties to reflect on the situation prior to meeting.

Meet Schedules Meet schedules are posted online. Field events begin at 4:30 and the running events will begin at 5:00. These times are different for the GCISD District meet on 4/2/15. Please make sure that you are signed up with Celly! Meet locations are also available on the CTMS Athletic website.

Participation All athletes interested in running track will be able to participate in at least one meet. We do have try-outs for field events and if your son/daughter does make a field event, they will practice after school every day. Relays will practice before school. We can only enter 3 athletes per event each meet. Therefore, not all track team members will participate in each meet. Athletes participating will be notified by Tuesday a.m. or in their athletic period the week of the meet.

Thank you so much for all of your support! We are looking forward to a wonderful track season!
