Physical Geography

Climate Trinidad and Tobago, well within the tropics, both enjoy a generally pleasant maritime tropical climate influenced by the northeast trade winds. In Trinidad the annual mean temperature is 26°C, and the average maximum temperature is 33°C. The humidity is high, particularly during the rainy season, when it averages 85 to 87 percent.

Economic growth for the past seven years has averaged slightly over 8%, significantly above the regional average of about 3.7% for that same period; however, it has slowed down this year to about 5% and is expected to slow further with the global downturn. Oil and gas account for about 40% of GDP and 80% of exports, but only 5% of employment

Colonization In 1797, the British took over Trinidad. Trinidad became a British colony, and remained one until its independence in 1962 Tobago became apart of Trinidad because they couldn’t afford to take care of their country.
