The Characters in this book are Mr. and Mrs. Hayes, their daughters Agnes and Charlotte, their son Justin Lee, and their dog Beauregard.

Charlotte Hayes is not a dog hater or a dog lover, but when her family gets Beauregard (a Saint Bernard) she winds up taking care of him all by herself.
