Strategies for Success Using Interactive Technologies to Meet Statewide Needs of Teachers and Students CAHSEE Preparation Initiative Stepping into Your Future:

What is CAHSEE Steps? It’s an on line preparation program for students who need to pass California’s standardized high school exit exam (CAHSEE) using multiple technology tools. Designed & developed by an inter- segmental collaborative partnership of researchers, classroom teachers and technology specialists.

Why is Steps different? Research based approach to literacy, Math, pedagogy and test taking. Strength-based, technology enabled, hybrid or blended delivery model, that’s available to students ‘any time, any place.’ Actively engages students with ‘real world’ application. Builds capacity for ‘test prep & beyond’

Steps Math Course Overview Step 1: Seamless enrollment & strength based entry survey Step 2: Warm up game & pre assessment Step 3: Five modules aligning to the strands tested on the CAHSEE Step 4: Review, post assessment & test

Math-the Interactive Lessons Lessons actively engage students by constructing concepts using a multi-modal approach designed to facilitate different learning styles: –Situated concept explanation –Interactive concept building –Guided problem practice –Independent problem solving
