On Board Terminal  Technical characteristics  Functions  Messages  SIM requirements  Sensors for OBT  Installation

Technical characteristics  Product: RT  operating temperature range ( -20  + 55)  C  SIM card 3.3 v - active (supply by EDC)  SIM and the SMSC are supplied by the same GSM provider  permanent allocation on the wagon (fixed assembly)  Vibration: EN50155 compliant  Shock resistance: EN50155 compliant  Waterproof : IP65  EMC: according to EN50155 and CE  Dimension: outer dimensions 253 x 243 x 145 mm  Weight: 5750 g  MTBF (mean time between failure hours)

Technical characteristics  Power supply duration 5 years  Type of batteries: not rechargeable, Li batteries  Internal shocks in the direction of shock sensor: the traffic (for example by shunting) > 23,5 m/s2 (approx. 2,4 g)  Internal memory: 384 Kbyte for user data  Antennas integrated into housing  Satellite-based GPS tracking module  Tracking accuracy < 20 m according to assembly position

Technical characteristics  GSM mobile radio data module 900 MHz module  Transmit power 2 W (class 4)  SMS (Text/PDU-Mode MO, MT) and SMS-Cell-Broadcast  Housing  Construction: round steel body with welded bottom with firmly placed synthetic domed cap  Material of body: steel ST37, wall thickness 4,5 mm, powder- coated surface  Maintenance-free over 5 years

Functions  status of the wagon (loaded / unloaded).  shock detection (in the sense of shocks caused by shunting)  Position tracking by GPS  wagon speed and direction are calculated in the OBT and are sent to the ground station (but only on request -polling)  alarm of low charge battery (two thresholds according to the remaining operating time of less than 8 % and 4 %, respectively)

Functions  The OBT exchange messages via SMS to the Ground Station and a software update to the OBT via GSM data channel.  The OBT should be characterised by a unique identifier (SIM identifier and Serial number)  The OBT is individually configurable.  The OBT can run in three different modes (active mode, sleep mode, time table supervision mode) and is able to switch automatically from active mode into the sleep mode.

Functions  The SMS sending interval cannot be determined according the moving status of the wagon. The interval depends on the actual OBT mode (active mode, sleep mode, time table supervision mode).  A deviation from the reference of loading status can automatically be reported to the Ground Station during time table supervision mode.  Running / no running is detected during time table supervision mode.

Functions  OBT can load 128 way-points. Each one consists of 2 wake-up times, tolerance radius and target status for the sensors. The time table supervision function is time-controlled. A special target detection feature is available only for the final station of the time table in case of delay. This is an internal OBT function which roughly calculates the expected time of arrival (ETA).

Basic Operating Policy

Enhanced Operating Policy

Messages log-in in the GSM network 1 x per hour position determination include check of the loading sensor 4 x per day sending of two SMS 2 x per day receiving of one SMS 1 x per 2 days supervision of the internal shock sensor continuous supervision of the battery including calculation of the remaining working time continuous

SIM Requirements  SIM and SMSC are supplied by the same GSM provider.  SIM must be suitable to be used in a GSM 900 network  MiniSIM format with 3.3 V operating voltage  transparent data exchange and SMS transmission  each SIM should only have one telephone number  SIM and SMSC of the network operator have to support 8 bit binary SMS (Data Coding Scheme DCS =0xF6)  SIM should allow to change the programmed provider list

SIM Requirements  tel.number of the GSM provider to be used to activate the SIM  telephone number of the SIM  SMSC number of the GSM network/provider,  PIN 1 and PIN 2,  PUK 1 and PUK Legend SIM - Subscriber Identity Module 2 GSM - Global System for Mobile Communication 3 SMSC - Short Message Service Centre 4 SMS - Short Message Service 5 PIN - Personal Identification Number 6 PUK - Personal Unblocking Key

Sensors for OBT Loading sensor (RT us-01)  Detection of loading status empty / loaded on any freight wagon type  Functional principle: periodic gap measurement between wagon body and rail track including comparison with threshold  Ultrasonic sensor with 6 m connection coaxial cable Housing of ultrasonic sensor and sensor support of plastic  adapter (thickness 2 mm) and calibration device (thickness 8 mm) of steel ST37  Assembly: Welding of assembly adapter at bottom side of superstructure of freight wagon vertically to rail track  Weight: g

Loading sensor (RT us-01)  Temperature range: - 40 °C up to + 85 °C  Measurement range: mm  Resolution: 1 mm  Accuracy: ± 3 mm  Threshold: variable, programmable  Loading sensor: RT us  Door sensor for 4 doors: RT sk-01 (not used)  Temperature sensor: CT tp-01 (not used)
