Hebrews in a Nutshell What we must know: the greatness of Jesus Christ What we must do: continue to trust God What we must NOT do: turn away from God

Hebrews in a Nutshell Faith is defined by: willful surrender to God willful obedience to God Faith is demonstrated by: DoingSufferingWaiting

But why should I keep on trusting God? The answer lies in truly knowing the Greatness, the Goodness, and the Wisdom of Jesus Christ!

There are three offices in the Old Testament that meet three great needs of man. The office of the prophet meets man’s need for revelation. The office of the king meets man’s need for restoration. The office of the priest meets man’s need for reconciliation.

While there were prophets (messengers), kings (deliverers), and priests (mediators) in the Old Testament, only the promised Messiah – Jesus the Christ, can perfectly fulfill all three Old Testament offices.

If man is to know God accurately and intimately, he needs God to reveal Himself to man. If God has a message for man, He must have a messenger.

1.The Prophets a.“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,” (Hebrews 1:1)

1.The Prophets b.God chose certain men to serve Him as prophets who will bring His messages to the people.

2.The Angels a.“Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14)

2.The Angels b.God sent angels to bring messages to and care for his people.

3.The Messiah a.“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

3.The Messiah a.After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” (Hebrews 1:3)

Jesus may be the message and God revealed, but can he understand me?

“Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” (Hebrews 2:18)
