TEXT: John 14:1-11, Acts 4:11-12 THEME: The cost of following Christ involves rejecting all other paths to God.

4 LDS Question “In light of all the different religions and all the different churches that are in conflict wouldn’t it be great if there were someone who could show you the true path to God?”

5 Response “You just told me there are hundreds of religions and denominations telling us their true path to God and now you telling me there is another one.“

7 How can I confidently know the truth about God and eternity?

8 I. Jesus guarantees the believer a place in heaven (1-4).

9 John 14:1-4 1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?

10 John 14:1-4 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”

11 Acts 1:6-9 “6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”

21 John 14:5-7 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

22 John 14:5-7 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

39 John 14:8-11 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.

40 Hebrews 1: 1-3 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
