Overview Introduction. Definition of self-care. Advanced Individual Training (AIT) Self-care Mission. Time Frame of the AIT Self-care Program.

Why is Self-care Important? An average soldier sees a health care provider more than 8 times in a year. In the past, soldiers have relied on the hospital or clinic to treat all or most symptoms of illness. Most minor health problems can do not require a visit to the hospital or clinic. Self care enables soldiers to assume a greater responsibility for their own health.

Why is Self-care Important? Self-care teaches soldiers to: –prevent illnesses. –improve and maintain their health. –evaluate health symptoms. –decide what to do when they get sick. –be confident in choosing what level of treatment is needed for a minor illness.
