Presentation On Shapes Basic Summary: On Shapes By Priyank Shah

What is a Shape ? The shape of an object located in some space is a geometrical sketch of the part of that space taken by that object, as determined by its external boundary theorizing from location and orientation in space, size, and other properties such as color, content, and material composition.

More On Shapes Modest shapes can be described by elementary geometry objects such as a set of two or more points, a line, a curve, a plane, a plane figure (e.g. square or circle), or a solid figure (e.g. cube or sphere). Most shapes stirring in the physical world are complex. Some, such as plant structures and coastlines, may be so arbitrary as to rebel traditional mathematical description in which case they may be analyzed by differential geometry, or as fractals.

Some Shapes Square In geometry, a square is a regular quadrilateral. This means that it has four equal sides and four equal angles (90-degree angles, or right angles). It can also be defined as a rectangle in which two adjacent sides have equal length. A square with vertices ABCD would be denoted ABCD

Some Shapes Circle A circle is a simple shape of Euclidean geometry consisting of those points in a plane that are equidistant from a given point, the center. The distance between any of the points and the center is called the radius.

Some Shapes Triangle A triangle is one of the basic shapes of geometry. A triangle is a polygon with three corners or vertices and three sides or edges which are line segments (described in next slide). A triangle has vertices A, B, and C is denoted ABC.

Some Shapes Line or straight line was introduced by early mathematicians to represent straight objects with negligible width and depth. Lines are an invention of such objects Line segment is bounded by two distinct end points and contains every point on the line between its end points. Depending on how the line segment is defined, either of the two end points may or may not be part of the line segment. Two or more line segments have some of the same relationships as lines, like being parallel, intersecting, or skew.

Some Shapes Rectangle A rectangle is any quadrilateral with four right angles. Another name for rectangle is equiangular quadrilateral, since equiangular means that all of its angles are same like 90 degrees (360°/4 = 90°). It can also be defined as a parallelogram containing a right angle. A rectangle with sides ABCD would be denoted as ABCD.
