| [Contractor Safety Training] 1 Environmental Policy for Contractors

| [Contractor Safety Training] 2 Sappi’s Environmental Policy We believe that reducing our environmental impact is critical to our company’s success: therefore, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, conserving energy, decreasing waste and preventing pollution.

| [Contractor Safety Training] 3 Chemical Storage All chemicals and flammable materials must be properly stored. All chemicals must be stored in labeled containers. Do not store incompatible materials together. Any oil product brought on site must be stored so that spills will be contained. Fixed or portable fuel tanks must have secondary containment.

| [Contractor Safety Training] 4 Waste Chemicals Contractors are responsible for removing all chemicals brought on site. Examples: Partial or full containers of: –Fiberglass resins –Paint –Cleaning agents If you generate a hazardous waste but cannot transport the waste off site, contact the Environmental Manager (Ext. 4286) or Treatment Plant Operator (Ext. 4537) for assistance. –Example: A spill of hazardous chemical on the ground will create a hazardous waste that must be handled according to State and Federal regulations.

| [Contractor Safety Training] 5 Spill Prevention and Reporting All chemical and oil spills must be immediately reported to the Plant Protection Department ( or Ext. 4222). Remediation of spills is the responsibility of the contractor. The Environmental Manager must be advised of any spill, and approve of any action taken to remediate a spill. The Environmental Manager will make proper notification to regulatory agencies.

| [Contractor Safety Training] 6 Spill Prevention and Reporting – Cont. No chemicals or oil products may be put on the ground or in any stormwater system. Use of the mill sewer collections system is prohibited unless approved by the Environmental Manager.

| [Contractor Safety Training] 7 Dirt & Demolition Debris You cannot dispose of dirt, demolition debris, or any other solid waste on mill property without authorization from the Environmental Manager.

| [Contractor Safety Training] 8 Ground Breaking, Shoreland Zoning No digging is allowed anywhere on mill property without authorization from the Plant Protection Department.
