Unification of Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. In the Thirds millennium B.C. The Pharaonic age began. Power was centralized in the hands of a god-king. Egypt then became the first organized society. In the 19 th Century Egypt tried to gain political independence from the Ottoman Empire and then from the British. Egypt tried to create an Egyptian Empire that extended to Syria and to remove Egypt form the Turkish control. It was unsuccessful. They then gained independence midway through the next Century.

The kind of economy… Type of Industry- Textiles, chemicals (fertilizers, Polymers, petrochemicals) pharmaceuticals, food processing, petroleum, goods. Greater Cerio, Alexandra, and Helwan are Egypts largest industrial centers. They produce Irons, steels, textiles, refined petroleum products, plastics, building materials, electronics, paper, automobiles, and chemicals. Major Exports- Natural Gas, Cotton, household, furnishing and clothing, semi-furnished, Iron and steel mill products, other petroleum products, textlie floor covering, non-cotton household furnishings and clothing, aluminum stone, sand, cement, lime, fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides.
