Polling Question Have you attended National Arts Advocacy Day before?

Review of Capitol Hill Landscape  Currently Congress is out on a 2 week district recess. On Tuesday, April 13th, they return to Washington, DC.  Cutting budgets, reducing the deficit, stimulating the economy, and creating jobs will be top of mind among Members of Congress.  The level of partisanship and party feuding has steadily increased as a result of the sweeping healthcare bill being passed.  FY 2011 appropriations process will be in full swing.  Education reform hearing will be underway.

Overall Message to Your Delegation  Your visit to your Congressional delegation is important because it’s part of an (organized) show for support;  The most important information to share isn’t national data, it’s your local examples and research – so bring ‘em to town;  Members want to see how votes they cast results in funding and support at home – show bring examples of how government support has helped.
