8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. East Wing Rotunda Get your name tags and materials Final review of talking points and materials Meet and greet with legislators and staff over coffee 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Legislative Visits/ Display Tables in East Wing Rotunda Your schedule for meetings with legislators will be in your DOTH packet When you are not in legislator meetings, please join us at the PAIU display tables in the East Wing Rotunda Lunch is on your own. The Capitol Cafeteria has an array of choices. Schedule There are two aspects of the Day on the Hill: 1. IU information tables in East Wing Rotunda 2. Meetings with legislators and staff

DOTH Participant packets: Your meeting schedule Name tag Talking points Maps List of legislators and office locations Evaluation forms (please have one person on your team complete a form after each of your meetings)

6 Day on the Hill Materials
“Leave-behind” documents for legislators One person on your team (team leader) will receive materials to leave with legislators or legislative staff: PAIU trifold brochure with IU at Work inserts One-page fact sheet on the Joint State Government report about IUs. Local IU fact sheet for legislators Please bring 25 extra copies of local fact sheet document to place on the East Wing Rotunda display table. Day on the Hill Materials

7 Day on the Hill Talking Points

8 Legislative Visits on November 14
Senate will be in session. Still time to schedule meetings with Senators and/or Senate staff House of Representatives will NOT be in session Plan to stop by House members’ offices and leave materials Still opportunities to meet with House staff

9 Tips for Legislative Visits
Be on time, flexible and brief Meetings should be minutes Expect to wait in a small area or in the hallway Skim each legislator’s bio in advance of your visit. Take note of which committees the legislator sits on. You can find that information for House members here: and for Senators here:

10 Tips for Legislative Visits
Be prepared to meet with staff instead of the legislator, even if you were previously told the legislator would attend. Select a spokesperson and organize your thoughts ahead of time with others who are attending Select a note taker who is responsible for completing the evaluation sheet Have your handouts and leave behinds ready, along with information from your IU with your contact information on them Follow up with a thank you note within a week
