A program for students of all ages that integrates meaningful movement with academic concepts to increase learning.

Learnercise® was created by Dr. Debby Mitchell, recent Associate Professor, College of Education, University of Central Florida. Learnercise® is a Movement Based Academic program (MBA). The curriculum is designed to enhance learning, school readiness, and school success. Learnercise® is based on knowledge from neuropsychology and brain development. The curriculum uses multiple pathways to “wire the brain” that leads to deep contextual learning. Learnercise ® Creator Add at a Circus

What makes Learnercise® so unique and innovative is the method that is used to enhance learning: In a study, children improved 30% in math knowledge after 6 weeks. Why is Learnercise ® Unique? Come and Go Around with Adjectives

Chesterfield’s Bellwood Elementary gets fit bellwood-elementary-gets-fit/article_8bc1ccda-288e-5ff7-ad3a- adad4db6e742.html Third grade teacher Rachel Hoffman leads her students in some Geo Mat exercises at Bellwood Elementary School, Feb. 25, The Geo Mat activity combines mathematics with exercise. The students jump onto the squares that have the answers to math problems. The school has initiatives that promote wellness and fitness to the students and staff

What makes us move also… makes us think Meaningful movement and academic integration activates the same parts of the brain. If we consider our children’s health status and inactivity levels, it is paramount that we implement programs and activities that promote physical activity and enhance school success.

Activate the Brain Move Yourself

Preschool: – Learnercise® provides opportunities to prepare children for success in Kindergarten. Children learn colors, alphabet, numbers, shapes, time, and food awareness concepts. K-5: – Learnercise® provides opportunities for school age children to reinforce math and literacy concepts in a fun and innovative way. Learnercise ® Curriculum

Learnercise ® Programming Phone Mat 9 numbers, colors, NSEW & ABC’s Clock Mat 13 numbers, colors, shapes & learn time Nutrition Mat Food groups, types of foods, colors & healthy eating Food Group Fun

Learnercise ® Programming

Gives personal space (security blanket) Multiple applications The GeoMat ® is the heart of all high impact fitness and dance programming Lowers impact - 3/8” fatigue mat - with 2 sizes (45” X 45” & 57” X 57”) GeoMat ®

Curriculum designed for the Learnercise® Mat aid in increasing children’s listening and processing skills. The physical movements and locations on the Learnercise® Mat help anchor learning and recall for a particular concept. Many words are abstract to children until they experience them. For example, words like two, red, letter C, jump, on, off, shake, and little become concrete when children can physically practice the meaning of the concept. Learnercise ® Curriculum

Cross-lateral movements are included in the curriculum since they are directly related to reading readiness. The music lyrics encourage large gross motor movements so important for normal growth and development. These meaningful movement experiences enrich literacy knowledge; helps build vocabulary, and links strategic understanding with visual representations. GeoFitness & Learnercise ® Curriculum Do the Opposites
