The Czech System of Education

School attendance From 6 to 15 Compulsory for all children

Types of schools State – free of charge Private – they charge fees Church All schools are coeducational No uniforms

Educatuin in the CR has these stages: Pre-school Primary Secondary Tertiary

Students are evaluated by: Marks from 1 (the best) to 5 (the worst) They get a school report Compulsory and optional subjects

Pre – school education Creches Nursery schools Kindergartens Children play with other children, they learn to socialise

Primary schools At 6 years of age Reading, writing, counting,… They stay there till 15

Secondary Education Entrance examination At the age of 15 They can choose among a variety of sec. schools

Types of secondary schools: Grammar schools: general and rather academic education, prepares for university Special schools: business academies, nursing schools,… Vocational training: for practical jobs
