Terms to Know Shinto = Polytheistic religion in Japan; believes all natural things (wind, mountains, trees) have their own spirits; humans should live with respect to them. Clan = group of families related by blood, marriage Prince Shotoku = Early emperor of Japan; brought constitution, laws and reforms from China
