Costumes in the 1930s :)

General Costumes (For big groups of people)

1930s- Women Women’s overalls were more dainty, they always had an undershirt usually that went to their elbows. Go for neutral colors and light subdued jewel tones.

GIRLS - You Need To Get... - a short sleeved cotton button up shirt (camp shirts) in neutral colors - character shoes - oxford flats for stage hands - undergarments: slips, bras, loose silky shorts We’ll be making the rest of your costume pieces!

1930’s- Women Shoes

1930s- Men

GUYS - You Need To Get... - khaki pants (high waisted, PLEATED, cuffed) - button up short sleeved shirts (neutral colors beige, white, grey) - white tank tops and lots of tighty- whities/1930’s undergarments - suspenders - knickers - shoes: leather oxfords

1930s- Undergarments (women) In case you have to change on stage, you’ll have to be in 1930s undergarments. They’re more covered than undergarments today, they’re more like silky, lace slips. These are some examples:

1930s Undergarments (men) Again, for in case you have to change on stage, you’ll be in 1930s undergarments. They kind of look like baby onesies, but more like tighty-whities with a white tank top. This is part of your costume. Sorry. Here’s some examples, good luck:

We know you may be embarrassed….

...but at least you don’t look like this!

Specialty Costumes (For specific characters)

Louise Louise is very put together at the beginning, and then as the show goes on, she’s more disheveled. Here’s our sketch:

Phil: beginning In the beginning, Phil comes on in farm clothes. We interpreted that as worn out and slightly dirty. This is what it would be like:

Phil: director When Phil is the director, he’s much more put together and professional.

Benny There aren’t a lot of scenes where Benny is in 1930s clothes, but he’s still in at least one. This is what it would look like:

Mr. Dewitt Mr. Dewitt is a fool. He’s insane, pretty mad. So his costume is cray. So this is what he might look like:

Jack Jack’s costume is more professional than a stagehand but less than Phil as the director. He’ll probably end up rolling up his pants or something.

Shel Shel’s costume is nicer than the other stage hands, but not as nice as Louise. She would be 1930s overalls like this:

A brief explanation...

Our ugly is subtle.

These are prettier pictures to look at if/when you ask questions.

For all those 1D fans out there
