The Stewardship Series

Review We are all Stewards. We must exercise Self-control. We must accept the Laws of the Harvest. Good Stewards HONOR GOD with all we are given.

Good Stewards: Keep Watch How Well Do You Know Your Resources? – Proverbs 27:23-27 Keeping Watch Demonstrates Trustworthiness – 1 Corinthians 4:2 Diligent Planning Is Needed – Proverbs 21:5 Warning: Overdoing It Only Leads To Greed! – Proverbs 23:1-7

Good Stewards: Keep Watch Excuse Alert: “I get a monthly statement.” You, not just your bank, need to keep watch. Excuse Alert: “I have a rough idea…” In light of our personal weaknesses and the lack of immediate consequences, a rough estimate is not enough for a good steward.

Good Stewards: Embrace Giving Good Stewards Can Recognize The Extra – 1 Timothy 6:8 The Only Time We Usually Recognize Our Extra, Is When We Are Around People That Have A LOT LESS Than We Do. Compelled By Love, Early Christians Knew How To Best Manage Their Extra: Giving – Acts 2:44-45

Good Stewards: Embrace Giving Even In Tough Times, We Are Surrounded With Extra, Which Puts Us At Great Risk For Greed. – Luke 12:13-15 Jesus’ Parable: How To See This Trap – Luke 12:16-21 If we consume, or plan to consume, all of our extra for ourselves. We are living as if life consists of our possessions.

Good Stewards: Embrace Giving Foolishness of Becoming A Slave To Wealth (vs. 20) – “This is how it will be …” (NIV) Jesus Point: How To Escape This Trap – Our Resources CANNOT BE ONE-SIDED – We Must Be Rich Toward God

Good Stewards: Embrace Giving To Be Rich Toward God: “Purpose” A Percentage In Your Heart. – 2 Corinthians 9:7, Genesis 14:20, Mark 12:41-44 *Setting A Percentage Establishes A Clear, Personal Boundary So You Do Not Rob God. – Malachi 3:8-10, Luke 12:34 To Be Rich Toward God: “Sell your possessions and give…” – Luke 12:33-34
