Why Thoughts Are Important Thoughts determine actions – Matthew 15:19 – “it is a law of life that, if a man thinks on something often enough & long enough, he will come to the stage when he cannot stop thinking about it.” (William Barclay) Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..” Proverbs 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life”

3. Think On These Things Things that are true – “loving the truth, speaking the truth, truthful” (Thayer) – John 17:17 cf. Psalm 119:11 – In word and deed – Ephesians 4:25 – In statements – To promises – In relationships

4. Think On These Things Things that are honest – “worthy of honor, respect or esteem; honorable” – Romans 12:17 – 2 Corinthians 8:21 – 1 Peter 2:12 – 1 Timothy 3:7

5. Think On These Things Things that are just – things which are right between man and man and man and God – Colossians 4:1 – People of the world pay more attention to justice and honesty of Christians than they do to what we may say to them

6. Think On These Things Things that are pure – “chaste, clean, pure” – 1 Timothy 5:22; 2 Things that are lovely – That which is pleasing; acceptable – Kindness, sympathy, forbearance as opposed to constant criticism

7. Think On These Things Things that are of good report – “the things which are fit for God to hear” William Barclay – Things which all people commend Kindness Respect for parents

8. Think On These Things If there be any virtue … any praise – Paul didn’t claim this as an exhaustive list – Think upon those things which are virtuous and worthy of praise “every kind of excellence”

9. What Must I Do To Be Saved?  Hear the gospel (Romans 10:17)  Believe Jesus is Christ (Acts 8:37)  Repent of your sins (Acts 17:30)  Confess your faith (Matthew 10:32)  Baptized for remission of sins (Acts 2:38)  Faithful unto death (Revelation 2:10)
