MAJOR STRATEGIES Additional areas Soil health and Micronutrients Seed and variety replacement Good Agronomical practices (GAP) Bringing down cost of cultivation Strengthening Of Extension Farm Mechanization IT applications

SOIL HEALTH & MICRONUTRIENTS SOIL TEST BASED FERTILIZER APPLICATION: SOIL ANALYSIS 4 GPS instruments have been supplied by the O/o Commissoner & Director of Agriculture, AP, Hyderabad to collect the soil sampes. During 2015-16 it is planned to collect 1020 soil samples @ 30 samples / revenue village by using GPS instruments. Campaigns are being conducted to create awareness on importance & process of soil sampling to be adopted. Companies/ Registered NGO’s/Institutes/Associations/Organizations etc. having experience of satisfactory and successful work in rural areas of AP are invited for soil testing on PPP mode. Immediately after analysis the results will be communicated online and viewed at Agrisnet portal. Besides SMS soil analysis results will be send to farmers mobile in telugu immediately after analysis.

B. SOIL HEALTH CARDS Soil health cards will be distributed to farmers before commencement of sowings. Village level interactive meetings will be arranged on Soil health status and recommendations to promote balanced fertilization. Village level soil fertility maps will be prepared based on the soil analysis results. Based on analysis results the required quantities of micronutrients will be distributed to farmers on 50% subsidy. Saturation in Supply of Micronutrients in deficit areas C. Soil Organic matter: To improve the status of Soil organic matter and thereby improve response to the applied nutrients 60 Qtls. of Green manure seed is being supplied during the year 2015-16.

3. SEED & VARIETAL REPLACEMENT Crop Varieties Qty of seed Planned to distribute (Qtls) PADDY MTU 1061, MTU 1064,NLR 34449,MTU 1001, MTU 1010, 320

4. GOOD AGRONOMICAL PRACTICES Crop sequence & crop rotation Double Cropping in Rainfed condition Encouraging Rice shallow and Summer pulse Promotion of ID crops during Rabi instead of Rice Raising Redgram on Rice and commercial crop bunds

5. BRINGING DOWN COST OF CULTIVATION – INM & NPM (IPM) Soil Test Based Nutrient recommendation Reducing excessive use of nitrogen by adopting Azolla & Green manure incorporation. Control on indiscriminate use of Pesticide Promotion of Non-Pesticide Management (NPM) in Khandivaram & Jaithavaram Popularizing different methods of organic inputs like vermi compost ,FYM, neem coated urea, neem cake, bio agents & bio pesticides

6. STRENGTHENING OF EXTENSION Intensifying Polam Pilusthondi Program and developing measurable indicators for assessing the impact of different interventions like pest & disease control, selection of right chemical & dosage, balanced use of fertilizers, varietal replacement etc. Chandranna Rythu Kshetralu of 25 acres each are organized @ 1 per each ADA, MAO and AEO. Best management practices are demonstrated in each crop for increasing production and productivity levels. Contd;

Village level Action Plan is being prepared to address the gaps in productivity. The interventions for this are : Polam Pilusthondi, Chandranna Rythu Kshethralu and Polambadi programmes. Placement of MPEOs will strengthen the extension reach to Village level and regular contact with farmers. It is praposed to appoint Farmers facilitators of 5 Nos. under INM to promote Micronutrients .

7. FARM MECHANISATION Promoting improved Farm Mechanization to reduce cost of farm operations by providing Rs. 0.38 crores as subsidy. Harvest & Post harvest equipment like Tarpaulins, Combined harvesters, Threshers and Post harvest procurement centers being promoted.

8. IT Applications: i) Farmers use : Online Soil Health Card Generation Interest Free Crop Loans Automation of Transactions Agricultural Services available through Mee Seva Services Work Flow of Application for Farm Implements - Mee Seva Farmers Portal : Crop wise best management practices in Telugu ii) Department efficiency : Online Input Licence Management System (OLMS) – Fertilizer monitoring upto retialers level E-Agri Labs Application CORE Dashboard Crop Data Entry System Fertilizer Monitoring System Polam Pilustondi – Response of Farmers

INTRODUCING IMPROVED MANAGEMENT PRACTICES RICE Promoting Direct Seeding/drum seeding/MSRI for cost reduction and timely sowing. Yield increase 5-10% and cost reduction 10%. Adoption of flood and lodging tolerant rice varieties in flood and cyclone prone areas – increases of yield by 20 – 25% (4-5 Q/acre) with varieties :MTU 1064, MTU 1061, Swarna Sub I A Large scale farm mechanization using rotavators, appropriate translators, plant protection equipment and harvesters reduce the cost of cultivation by 10% (labour etc) and yield by 5 – 10% (2-3Q/ha)

Reducing the use of ‘P’ fertilizes to 1/3 based on soil test, use of P-solubelizing bacteria and conjunctive use of organic and inorganic fertilizers increase soil microbial and fertility status besides reducing cost of inputs by 5-10% and improving soil health and productivity.

CROP WISE INTERVENTIONS TO ACHIEVE DOUBLE DIGIT GROWTH Sl. No Crop Major Production Gaps proposed for correction which contribute for increase in growth Technological Intervension Proposed to bridge the gap Area proposed to cover with the technological intervention (ha) 1 Paddy No seed treatment Adoption seed treatment with pseudomonas before sowing (NFSM, CRK,ATMA funds) 100 Not adopting green manures preceding to paddy Creating awareness and supplying green manure seed on subsidy basis in time (General subsidy) 200 Non use of improved varieties and HYV Introduction of improved and high yielding varieties resistant to drought ,lodging and cold tolerant (General Seed, NFSM,CRKS/ Hybrids, CSBD) 250 No nursery management Create awareness on nursery management like applying fertilizers and weed management (Trainings) Planting over-aged seedling Encouraging Direct, Drum seeder, SRI and SMSRI (Drum seeders, Mini SMSRI,-10 units, Conoweeders-20 units, Seed-cum-fert. Drills-5Units,ATMA demos-4 Nos. NFSM clusters- 20Ha.) – Creation of awareness through Polam Pilusthondhi prog.) Poor nutrient management and indiscriminate use fertilizers Soil test based fertilizer application along with micronutrients supply on subsidy (INM,NFSM, Prog.) 150 Poor Plant protection measures Balanced use of bio and chemical pesticides-NFSM-CRK funds 1000 Poor weed management due to short age of labour Supply of weedicide and conoweeders powerweeders – NFSM,CRK funds Poor post harvest management use of tarpaulins _NSP –FM Scheme 18 Contd...

Main Focus on Soil Test Based Nutrient recommendation. Reducing excessive use of nitrogen Control on indiscriminate use of Pesticides Promotion of Non-Pesticide Management (NPM) Micronutrient supplementation-Gypsum, Zinc and Boron Special emphasis on sweet corn popularization on Maize crop Capacity building & training 19

CONCLUSION It is targeted to increase of 17.80% production from 11.08 LMT during 2014-15 to 13.48 LMT in 2015-16. Propose to replace with new varieties/quality seed in 250 ha. in Paddy.
