INTRODUCTION This module will refresh the Data Communication and Computer Networks fundamentals and mainly focuses on practical network of o Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN), o Mobile Network, o Next Generation Network (NGN), o Different access technologies such as ADSL, FTTH. Also it will study the latest technologies such as Cloud Computing, Software Define Network, and BYOD etc. o Data, Signals, Analog Transmission, Digital Transmission, Error Detection, Error Correction, Wired LAN, Wireless LAN, overview of PSTN, Mobile Network, SDH, MPLS, OTN, signaling, NGN etc. 3

LEARNING OUTCOMES Understand the fundamentals of o Data Communication and Computer Networks. Understand the operations of o PSTN, Mobile Network and Next Generation Network (NGN) Understand the different broadband access technologies o ADSL and FTTH.
