Unit 6: ECONOMIC REFORMS SPEAKING

GIVING COMMENTS Asking for Opinions What do you think? What's your opinion? What are your ideas? Do you have any thoughts on that? How do you feel about that? What do you think about... Have you considered... What about... Can I add something here? (Do you) mind if I interject something here?

GIVING COMMENTS If you ask me... I'd say that... The point Is … As I see it... I'd just like to say that I think that... I'd like to point out that...

GIVING COMMENTS Giving Opinions I think we should get a new car. I don't think we need one. I believe (that) smoking should be outlawed. I don't believe (that) it should be illegal. In my opinion, Gone with the Breeze is the best movie ever made. I feel that it's the right thing to do. I don't feel that it's such a good idea.

 I tend to think that this item will sell well in domestic market.  I’m inclined to think that you offer the type of service that our company wants.  From my point of view you cannot find a better bargain than this.  To my mind, the prices used to be a little lower.  As I see it, the new model is quite different from the old one.  I believe that you will find this new product suit your production plan.  I think/consider/feel that we need to revamp our marketing policy.  In my opinion, your service has been slow lately.  I really feel that we have a wide range of products to cater to your need.  I really do think that my boss will agree to your proposal.  I certainly/definitely think that we can ship the items to you within one week.  I have absolutely no doubt that we can conclude the sale by next month.  I strongly believe that you will be satisfied with our merchandise.  I’m convinced/sure/positive that we can give you special prices. II tend to think that this item will sell well in domestic market.  I’m inclined to think that you offer the type of service that our company wants. FFrom my point of view you cannot find a better bargain than this.  To my mind, the prices used to be a little lower.  As I see it, the new model is quite different from the old one.  I believe that you will find this new product suit your production plan. think/consider/feel that we need to revamp our marketing policy. n my opinion, your service has been slow lately. II really feel that we have a wide range of products to cater to your need. really do think that my boss will agree to your proposal. II certainly/definitely think that we can ship the items to you within one week. have absolutely no doubt that we can conclude the sale by next month. II strongly believe that you will be satisfied with our merchandise. II’m convinced/sure/positive that we can give you special prices. WEAK STRONG

GIVING COMMENTS In my opinion, fashion is a complete waste of time, money and resources. In my reckoning, if we could lock up juvenile criminals, they’d learn that they couldn’t get away with it. I strongly believe in preventing problems before they happen. In much the same way as the Japanese prepare for earthquakes, countries with dry climates could have water catchment systems and reservoirs to defend against water shortage. I definitely think that countries should be self-sufficient in food and basic necessities. Don’t you think it’s better to stay single? Well, if you ask me, it all depends on your circumstances. Well, I think everybody should have the right to join a trade union.
