The student will be able to  Define literature review  List the purposes  Identify the types and sources of literature review  Explain how to locate or search literature  Describe the process and method of writing the literature review

Definitions What is literature ? All written sources relevant to the topic you have selected What is Literature Review ? It is an organized written presentation of what has been published on a topic by scholars and includes presentation of research conducted in the selected field of study

Why do we do review ? Purpose :  To direct the development and implementation of the study  To convey to the reader what is currently known regarding the topic of interest

Types of literature Reports Theses / Dissertations Published research (Journal articles) Conference proceedings

SOURCES  Primary sources : Written by the person who originated or is responsible for generating the ideas published( research published by person/s who conducted the research)  Secondary sources : Summarizes or quotes content from primary sources. ( The authors of secondary sources paraphrase the works of researchers and theorists
