 The slogan of Skype says it all:  “The Whole World can talk for Free!”  Free software program using voice over IP, or VoIP, technology. (IP = internet protocol)”  Make high-quality audio “phone calls” over the Internet.

PROSCONS  Free software to connect classrooms  Supports special needs students  Assists students outside of non- traditional classroom settings (remote locations, illness, homeschooled)  Some school district IT personnel may block the “ports” used for programs like Skype to function.  Why? Use of P2P (peer to peer) file sharing programs like KaZaa, Morpheus, and Limewire Students may use to download pirated music and commercial videos.
